Capricorn

Capricorn is the zodiac constellation of the Southern hemisphere of the sky that is situated between Aquarius and Sagittarius. The brightest star of this constellation has the shinning 2.87 of the star magnitude. The most interesting object in this constellation is the globular cluster stars with really dense core. The Alpha star of Capricorn constellation is also rather interesting as it is the optical double star that consists of unconnected stars with each other. And every star is the physical double system. As a rule the sun enters this constellation 19th of January.
In ancient times this constellation was called "fish-goat" and it took the same look in many maps of the sky. Sometimes it was personified with the god of forests, fields and herdsmen. Its stars make the outline that reminds the reversed hat.
Two thousand years ago when the names of constellations were formed in Ancient Greece the winter solstice was in this constellation. The name of the South tropic gets its name after Capricorn. This is one of the ancient constellations.
Native Australians called this constellation "kangaroo" that was hunted by the sky hunters. According to astronomers this constellation was the mythical goat that gave milk to Zeus. And the range of strange turnings and changes brought to the strange image of the creatures with the head of the goat and the tail of the fish. According to some myths the Greek god Pan was jumping into the river turning into the fish from the goat. The magic worked badly and Pan turned into such creature forever.
