Gemini

Gemini is the zodiac constellation the brightest stars of which have the brightness 1.16 and 1.59 of star magnitude. The sun enters the constellation of this zodiac on May 21.
This constellation is known since ancient times. Probably, only the stars of Castor and Pollux were first called Gemini that means "twins" in translation from Latin. Greeks thought that this constellation was put to the sky by Castor and Pollux. This constellation was also included into the ancient book of constellations.
According to ancient myth, there were two brothers twins Castor and Pollux. But when one of them died, another brother asked Zeus to take his immortality and to kill him too. Zeus felt sorry for him and put two brothers to the sky.
The main stars Castor and Pollux are situated at the distance 4.5° and are the heads of twins the legs of which are directed to the South and West and are standing on the Via Lacteal being near Orion.
However the star Castor shines less brightly than the star Pollux, astronomers called it α. It can be explained by the fact that scientists gave preference to the more northern stars of the constellation.
In the famous double system U, Gemini's components are situated so close to each other that the liquid of one star gets to another one. And there is the explosion on the surface of this white dwarf that takes place every several months.
According to beliefs, people born when the sun is in this constellation have special temper.
