Leo

Leo is the zodiac constellation of the Northern hemisphere that is situated between Cancer and Virgo. In translation from Latin this name means lion.

The position of bright stars really reminds the supine lion the head and the breast of which are represented by the famous asterism that reminds the interrogative sign reflected in the mirror.

The point of this sign is the bright white and blue star Regul that means "king" in translation from Latin. Sometimes it is also called the "Cor Leonis" that means "the heart of the lion" in translation from Latin. The brightness of this star is 160 more than the brightness of the sun. And its brightness can be also explained by the fact that it is situated near our planet. It is often covered by the moon.

This constellation also has the red dwarf with dim light. Its brightness is 100 thousand times lower than the brightness of the sun. And if this star occupied the place of our sun, then there would be a little bit lighter during the midday than during the night with the full moon.

This constellation belongs to the zodiac circle and the sun enters it on August 10. It has very interesting asterism that reminds sickle by its form. This sickle consists of six stars. This asterism also reminds the interrogative sign in the reflected look.

People of this zodiac are considered to be strong and willed. They are good leaders and ruler having numerous complexes at the same time.

When we look into the sky, we see thousands of little shinning points in the sky.? They could be seen only at night. These shinning little points are stars that are bigger than our planet but they are so far that they seem to be only little points.

If you ask someone what constellation is, he/she will probably answer you that it is the group of stars located in certain form after which the constellation got its name. And this person will be completely right in the 19th century.

Today vocabulary defines constellation as the areas that divide the sky to make the orientation in the night sky easier. In ancient times constellations were the characteristic figures made by the bright stars.

In 1922 the General Assembly of the International Association of Astronomers made the final list of 88 constellations into which the sky was divided. And in eight years the exact and final limits between them were made. During five years scientists corrected some limits. But in 1935 limits were adapted finally and couldn't be changed any more.
