According to Greek myth Ophiucnus is connected with the name of the great Asclepius that was the god of medicine. When Apollo (his father) killed the mother of this god for betray, he gave the baby to the centaur Chiron that was the master of medicine. When the god became adult he thought that he was able to raise people from the dead. Angry Zeus put him to the sky. Arat included the snake that Ophiucnus was holding. But nowadays it is the separate constellation that is the snake that is unique because it consists of two parts separated by Ophiucnus.
