Scorpio

Scorpio is the constellation of the Southern hemisphere that is situated between the constellation of Sagittarius in the East and Libra in the West being fully situated in the Via Lacteal. The sun enters the constellation of Scorpio in November 22 and in November 27 leaves it to pass into another constellation that doesn't enter the zodiac circle. A lot of bright stars make the head the body and the tail of scorpion.
This is one of ancient constellations that enters the zodiac circle. According to myths Orion had the conflict with Artemis. She got very angry and sent the scorpion to kill the young man. And scorpion did his duty. Arat added the astronomic part to this myth saying that Orion hurries to hide in the West when scorpion appears in the East. There are a lot of variants of this myth.
The brightest star of this constellation is Antares that is translated from Greek as "the rival of Ares" that is situated in the heart of the Scorpio. Its diameter is about 700 times more than the one of the sun. And the brightness is 9 thousand times more than the brightness of the sun. Antares is beautiful double star. Its brighter component is red and less bright neighbour is blue and white and in the contrast with the companion it looks green. And in the end it makes just perfect combination.
Scientists suppose that this constellation has also the star that has unusual planet system that doesn't follow the traditional model of planets formation.
